How a Pre-Workout Supplement Helped Me Pick Up the Pace

Years ago, I dabbled in taking a pre-workout supplement for the first time. Roughly 20 minutes after drinking down a shaker bottle of the mix, an uncontrollable tingling overcame my entire body- so much tingling, specifically in my hands and face, that I had to stop mid-burpee to breathe while repeatedly asking the trainer "Are you sure this isn't something to be worried about?"

"That's why I don't take them," she replied.

Fast forward to earlier this year, I met up with a friend who was familiar with the brand Revere, and he suggested I try the pre-workout energy mix, promising me that this time would be different. I trusted him, so with the peach mango pre-workout drink in-hand, I sipped hesitantly as I got in the right mental space to tackle intervals on the treadmill... CONTINUE READING

What's inside?

Dextrose and Maltodextrin cause a powerful and rapid insulin response. Insulin is a natural hormone with strong anabolic properties that acts as a transport agent for essential amino acids to be delivered to the cells of muscle fibers.

Whey Protein Isolate and Concentrate supply muscle cells with amino acids required to build lean muscle and promote muscular strength and recovery.

Glutamine promotes muscle growth, reduces muscle breakdown, and supports normal, healthy immune function.

Creatine Monohydrate helps to improve size and strength, promote muscular endurance, and promote complete muscle recovery.

L-Arginine improves circulatory flow, detoxification, muscular metabolism, and energy production.

Taurine supports mental focus and energy levels, and increase protein absorption.

IGNITE also contains a safe and effective dose of caffeine to provide an initial boost of energy. In addition to promoting increased energy, IGNITE also contains many neuroactive amino acids that support enhanced mental focus and cognitive function.

  • Vitamin A supports immune function, epithelial tissue, calcium metabolism, mitigates blood clotting, antioxidant activity, and muscular health.
  • Vitamin C reduces oxidative and inflammatory stress and supports and connective tissue protein synthesis.*
  • Taurine supports mental focus and energy levels, and increases protein absorption.*
  • Herbal extracts, Yerba Mate and Guarana, supply high levels of naturally occurring caffeine to support energy production, fat metabolism, neurohormone synthesis, mental focus, and positive mood.*

  • Protect against adulteration of products

PM

(Sleep Recovery Optimizer)
Post Recovery Optimizer

What's inside?

Optimal sleep patterns are essential to fully take advantage of the benefits of high intensity training. Tissue repair, detoxification, protein synthesis and replenishment of normal hormone levels are a few of the processes that occur in the deepest, most restorative stages of sleep. Without adequate sleep, skeletal muscles will not be repaired adequately and tissue breakdown is more likely to occur. This will substantially diminish any benefits of training, and contribute to slower recovery from exercise stress and a substantially increased risk of injury.

The PM Sleep Recovery Formula supplies a combination of amino acids, enzymes, and minerals to support an optimal healthy sleep pattern for complete rest and recuperation from training.

Flavor: Raspberry Lemonade

Inside The Formula:

  • Magnesium is a mineral essential for blood pressure and blood sugar regulation, muscle and nerve function, and the construction of protein, bone, and DNA. Magnesium aspartate is one of the better supplemental forms of magnesium.
  • L-Arginine plays an important role in sleep as it has the ability to release growth hormone naturally, remove bad cholesterol, enhance fat metabolism, and regulate salt levels in the body. Arginine also participates in muscle growth and protein synthesis due to its vasodilating abilities.
  • Taurine supports mental focus and energy levels, and increases protein absorption.
  • L-Leucine, L-Valine, and L-Isoleucine are essential for muscular strength, growth, and recovery, supporting a positive nitrogen balance in the muscle tissue.
  • L-Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid derived from Green Tea that has a powerful relaxing effect on the brain to support optimal sleep cycles.
  • GABA functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter, inhibiting the quantity of neurons firing in the brain to improve sleep. GABA also supports fat loss and lean muscle mass.
  • L-5-HTP is a precursor to the neurohormone Serotonin, supporting stable mental and emotional mood and energy.

NUTRITION

PROPRIETARY TECHNIQUES

BARWIS helps people regain motor function through Neurological Reengineering -- the process of using the cutting-edge BARWIS Applied Scientific Techniques and the BARWIS Methods to increase a person's neuromuscular activation and control. This is the core of the injury recovery programs provided by BARWIS where they help the brain to relocate, activate, and control muscle fibers. Our strength coaches are hands-on and provide applied methods of reestablishing and creating pathways to increase neural stimulus and motor control and our nonprofit The First Step Foundation helps people get access to these programs.

"Untapped Potential" TEDx Talk

Helpful Information

Entering The Program

If you are seeking help recovering from an injury or neuromuscular disorder, your experience will begin with an initial evaluation and assessment. The initial evaluation is necessary as it helps our training staff design an individualized program to meet the clients specific needs. The initial evaluation will always have a trainer who is the designer of the program and a secondary trainer who will be involved with the implementation of the program with the client.

Most often, additional strength training must be done as muscles have atrophied and the neuromuscular system must adapt to the new intensities and directions that it is being subjected to. This process takes time and effort - it very seldom comes quickly and easily, but the length and intensity depends completely on the situation of each individual and leaves no cookie-cutter formula for people to follow; it will be very specific, scientifically-based training program designed for each individual with periodic re-evaluations by the program designer who will write in adaptations to the training cycles depending on the progress and needs.

What To Expect

It may take some real time and a great deal of effort to overcome your injuries or motor difficulties, often depending on your initial condition and attitude. For others, your change will be much faster, coming in with a cane and leaving it behind. Some people train 3-5 times per week, others come in a for a short period and go home with specific exercises to work on their own before returning for a reevaluation. Depending on the nature of your injury and your current condition, it is possible to have you training along in a group environment, just with specific, calculated exercises to assist your recovery.

If you are seeking help and truly desire to progress in our program, it is very important that you come into it motivated, ready to work hard, determined to keep a good attitude, and a steadfast belief that you will recover as your body conforms and adapts. With these character traits and our world class training protocols, almost everybody comes through the program as a dramatically different person!

OUR MISSION

The fundamental principle for all that we do at BARWIS is that we do what is best for those we are charged with helping. "If the people we work with today mean more to us than we do to ourselves, we will be good at our jobs." This is on the walls of our centers, is engrained into our staff, and is the concept from which our nonprofits evolved. In working with impoverished children in the community as well as individuals in our Neurological Reengineering Program, it became apparent that there were complete voids in opportunities and resources for these people. That was not acceptable to me and thus the BARWIS 501(c)(3) nonprofits were created. The BARWIS First Step Foundation and Athletic Angels Foundation were developed to help provide these individuals with tools and support they would not otherwise have access to in order to help them achieve their goals, whether to be walking again or receive mentoring to excel in daily life and school.

Mike Barwis | Founder & CEO

FIRST STEP FOUNDATION

A 501(c)(3) organization committed to improving the lives of individuals with spinal cord, neurological, and related injuries/disorders by providing access to the BARWIS Neurological Reengineering elite recovery program via distribution of training scholarships.

ATHLETIC ANGELS FOUNDATION

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of underprivelaged youth and their families in our communities by providing vital resources, experiences, training opportunities, mentoring and more.
